Unexpected Treasures

Today I decided to go for one of my many picture taking walks, definately a cold blistery feet on this gloomy December day, but to get a last look of 2011 it was definately worth it. Especially since I got a little surprise at the end of my walk, but I'll save that for when I get to those photos.

When I first started on my walk, I thought my day was gonna be alot like this pumpkin...
mushy, wet, and cold.

Lets just say the cold weather and cloudy sky didn't really have me optomisitc of finding anything fantastical to take pictures of, and by the time I made it downtown to our old now abandoned movie theatre I was definately suffering from a case of seasonal depression. I mean look at these broken dirty displays, how could you not be sad?
Though I do have to admit the berry covered ivy adorning the brick, windows, and lights was very beautiful in a minimalistic sort of way.

And just as the little things along my walk started looking better and better, so did the pumpkins.

Our town is rebuilding one of it's bridges so I decided to go take a look at what was going on, and this is where I found my unexpected treasure. Right in the middle of a pile of dirt and rocks...

I found hundreds of shells!, Big ones, little ones, curly ones, flat ones, burried in the sand, it was amazing! I picked up a pocket full and brought them home. Here's some as I found them.

And that was my walk, if you want to see all the pics i took here's a link to the photobucket album, hope you all have an amazing New Years Eve!

New Year New Goals

So it's that time of year again, when we look back on everything we've done and look forward to all we have yet to do. This year along with my typical resolutions I'm starting a blog. I'm not sure what all it is going to consist of just yet, but thats the fun in it. Just going with the flow and developing my own style as I grow and mature into the woman I am becoming. Basically my blog's motto is this is me, this is what I feel, this is what I think, join along or go your own way.

So, at this point I suppose I should introduce myself, my name is Kaitlin - irish name meaning pure, I am a quirky, outgoing, outspoken, DIY, adventure seeking, curious little forensic biology major (also minoring in psychology), with a clumsy streak a mile long. I am a black belt, like as in a real black belt, I took self-defense for 11 years and would probly still be taking it if I didnt go to college so far from home. I love to read, write, draw, paint, crochet, sew, craft, cook, and I'm also an amateur photographer, I love animals and plants, I bellydance and do yoga when I can, and I am mildly addicted to gourmet coffee, but then again who isn't these days. I am currently 21, will be 22 in February and I will hopefully be graduating college in a couple of semesters.

So this is me, now you know, come along for the ride and we'll see where we go!
